I just returned from a walk with my pop. This morning, I think they call it Satterday or maybe it's actually Setterday because mom and dad are usually at home all day, obviously so they can pay attention to their Setter. Anyway, I just couldn't sleep last night and felt it was only right that those closest to me should join me in my vigil. Whining and barking are good tools to use, I am finding out. Sometimes mom and dad are not too happy about it though. Can you imagine? Wanting to sleep instead of playing with me, the very idea!I persuaded dad to take me for a walk this morning. I get so excited about these times that I can't hardly stand it. I try to get him to walk faster but when I pull the leash, he pulls back and says "No!" I sure wish somebody would tell me what that word means. I hear it a lot but it just doesn't click with me. So here I am, making my way up the street and constantly being pulled back when all of a sudden, I hear a voice from one of the houses. I looked up and there was a Spaniel, at least that's what pop called her. He said something like "Wow, that's a pretty Springer Spaniel!" He talks to me like that sometimes. I don't usually answer. I feel it's good for him to vent.
The voice, I realize is coming from this English Springer Spaniel and she's talking to me. "My gracious, young lady! What shocking behaviour! What would Her Majesty, the Queen say about your pulling on the leash! And you call yourself an English Setter!"
Confused, I told her. "Look, I don't know who this Queen is you're talking about, but I am the queen around these parts and I'll do whatever I like!"
"Harumph!" she said, disgusted with my reply.
I was so mad, I forgot to ask her if she was any relation to that Jerry guy on TV. Well, it's all behind me now, I suppose. Hope we get to go on another walk today. If we do, I might reward my mom and pop by letting them sleep!
